Can we fix it? Yes we can!

We saw this sad, yet empowering account of local bullying today on Facebook this morning. Did you know that kindness ninjas can feel anger? And that when they do it’s not a pretty thing? Consider this your day’s science lesson.

But! Ninjas don’t just sit around and simmer. They make things happen… so here’s what we’re going to do.  First, dear readers, we ask you to read Lilly’s story. Contemplate that this is happening right here in the Greater Lansing area. Think about how that makes you feel.

We bet by now you’re probably all frothy, ninja-style. Here’s where your ninja training begins. Second, please leave a comment of support for Lilly on the blog post. We’re sure Tashmica will pass them along. So sure, in fact that we’ve reached out to her asking for just that. We can let Lilly know that not everyone thinks her treatment is ok. In fact, we can empower her to continue to stand her ground in the brave, inspiring way she did when the authority figure who should have been protecting her tried to intimidate her away from the truth.

We now ask one final thing, in honor of Lilly’s bravery. The third step is to look around you. Find the person with the lisp, the limp, the growth, the pattern baldness, the funny pants, the snorting laugh, the lurching step… and COMPLIMENT THEM. Just walk right up or right by, and nonchalantly say “Hey! I love _____,” or “That _____ is really neat, where did you find it?” See beyond that which you find strange and compliment the person within.

Then, relax. Your mission is done and we guarantee you’ll feel like a million bucks, and so will that person whose day you brightened.  In five minutes or less, you can turn a day completely around. Empower yourself.

  1. Thank you, Lansing Ninjas for loving on Lilly. She is brave and amazing! I definitely accept this mission!

  2. This is by far my most favorite thing the Ninja’s have ever suggested that someone do as a random act of kindness. It’s far reaching, cost nothing, and is worth everything. ❤

  3. Thanks, Tashmica and Maribeth. We hope word of this spreads far and wide in #lovelansing and beyond.
